Heat advisory from National Weather Servcies prompts opening of Elk Grove cooling center

In response to excessive heat temperatures forecasted this week, the City of Elk Grove and Cosumnes Community Services District will open a cooling center tomorrow through Monday, June 21-27, for residents who may lack shelter or adequate home cooling systems.

The cooling center will be located at the Wackford Community Center at 9014 Bruceville Road. Hours of operation will be Noon to 8 p.m. The space will offer seating, water, and air-conditioning.

Visitors to the cooling center will be required to wear face coverings. Masks will be provided to those who need them. The facility cannot accommodate pets.
