The first tallies in the District 8 California State Senate race shows Dave Jones with a slight lead over Angelique Ashby. Jones and Ashby are both Democrats.
With just over 10-percent of the votes released, Dave Jones has secured 20,301 votes for 46.41-percent. Following Jones is Ashby with 18,370 votes for 42.00-percent.
The third candidate in the race, Rafa Garcia has 5,062 votes for 11.575-percent of the total. There are no Republicans in this race.
