District 2 Elk Grove City Council candidate Brewer adds to campaign funds, makes substantial personal loan

In what so far is a two-person race for Elk Grove City Council District 2, candidate Rod Brewer has reported a big jump in funding based mainly on a personal loan. Brewer, who serves on the Cosumnes Community Services District Board of Directors, filed his California Form 460 financial disclosure with the Elk Grove City Clerk's office this week.
Brewer reports campaign contributions of $66,799 for six months ending June 30. Of that amount, $60,000 was a loan made by Brewer to the campaign.
While most of Brewer's non-loan contributions were from individuals, he received support from business interests. Those contributions were $1,500 from Union Pacific Railroad and $2,500 from Super Pallet Recycling Corp. of Sacramento.
Brewer reports $59,493 cash on hand and expenses of $20,544.
Brewer and fellow Democrat Felipe Martin are competing for the seat being vacated by four-term Councilmember Pat Hume, who is running for the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors.

Like Hume, Brewer is a "personal" friend of Mayor BSA. Let's see what she does here. Does she stand by "her friend" or does she seek another candidate who will fall in line with her agenda?
What may that be? Like her foe, former Mayor Steve Ly, could it be that BSA would like Elk Grove's mayor be a full-time position with a very hefty six figure salary, courtesy of the taxpayers, not to mention all of those great benefits the city offers?
Sounds to be a great story line but given our Mayor’s day job I don’t see a full time Mayor’s position would be in her best interest like it would have for Ly.
I don't know much about Brewer but seems he's willing to take a risk and invest in himself when not too many other people would. Gotta respect that at least.
To EYE's point, I pray and hope that the city's mayor position never becomes full time. A full time mayor's job needs to be EARNED and not just GIVEN. BSA is a long ways off from showing she has earned a full time job for the taxpayers of EG. My suggestion-You want a full time job BSA? I suggest you go and work for the developers and other special interest groups since you are practically working for them anyway!
