Sergio Robles wins Elk Grove City Council District 4

Based on the recent tallies released late this afternoon and the remaining uncounted votes, Sergio Robles is the winner in the race for Elk Grove City Council District 4.

The tallies show Robles with 71 percent with 3,564 votes. His opponent, Giezi Bermudez, has 29 percent with 1,405 votes.

Robles is a current member of the Elk Grove Planning Commission and was endorsed by the Democratic Party of Sacramento and Rep Ami Bera. Robles is employed as a field employee of Bera.

When Robles takes his oath next month, he will replace Stephanie Nguyen, who left office to run for California Assembly, where she appears headed to victory. Robles will with the sixth person to represent District 4 in the city's 22-year history.

Congrats to Robot Robles. Never a doubt that he would win, although Bermudez was hands down the better candidate. Hopefully, Bermudez will run again in the near future, as the ambitious Robles has his sights set on higher office, rather than serving his local community. Now that he has a seat on the council, will he think and vote independently? Or will he continue the tradition set by his predecessor and others on council and vote for special interest groups and developers? I think we know the answer.
