Vargas maintains leads over Spurlin in EGUSD Area 2 open seat race

With about half of the vote counted countywide, Michael Vargas has maintained his lead over Stephanie Spurlin. The two candidates are vying for the open Area 2 seat on the Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Trustees. 

As of yesterday, Vargas has 54.1 percent for 3,855 votes, while Spurlin has 3,271 votes for 45.9 percent. Since the first release of vote tallies on Tuesday, November 8, Vargas has maintained a similar advantage over Spurlin. 

The next release of votes is at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 18.
