Local waterski pro Brian Detrick is one of six members selected for the U.S. World University Water Ski Team that will compete next week at the 2012 FISU World University Water Ski Championships in San Bernardo, Chile.
Detrick, along with Caroline Hensley (Hixson, Tenn.), Alex Lauretano (Windermere, Fla.), Lauren Morgan (Odessa, Fla.), Adam Pickos (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) and Storm Selsor (Fremont, Calif.) will compete for four days next week.
The U.S. Team has won every University Worlds (1997, 1999, 2002, 2004 and 2009) to date. The National Collegiate Water Ski Association is one of nine sport discipline organizations affiliated with USA Water Ski, which was formed in 1939 as a non-profit organization promoting water skiing in the United States.
USA Water Ski is affiliated with the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (world governing body) and is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and PanAmerican Sports Organization as the national governing body of organized water skiing in the United States.

Jan and I will be leaving for Chile on Monday to support our son Brian and his 6 member Team USA.
Tell Brian many of us here in Elk Grove will be supporting him and the USA team. Hopefully I will be able to watch it on FISU...
