Elk Grove Man Arrested After Suspected Shovel Attack, Intentional Vehicular Collision

An Elk Grove man was arrested after an alleged early morning assault that included a shovel attack and an intentional vehicle collision.   

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Friday, August 11 Darrell Wayne Rogers, 46, confronted his victim on the 9100 block of Willowberry Way when he the victim in the neck and back with a wooden shovel handle. After being struck, the victim fled in their vehicle and was pursued by the Rogers in his vehicle. 

Rogers is alleged to have intentionally collided with the victim's vehicle. Responding officers were able to locate Rogers' vehicle and conducted an enforcement stop.

The suspect was arrested and booked into the county jail where he is being held on $565,000 bail. Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, August 15.
