California Northstate University's president Alvin Cheung explains the need for public financing of the school's controversial proposed hospital. | |
When the Elk Grove City Council met on Wednesday, August 21 to discuss one aspect of the $900 million hospital sought by California Northstate University, it was the first time they had voted on anything significantly related to the controversial project.
Although members of the public were not surprised by the results - the city council voted 4 - 0 with Councilmember Darren conspicuously absent - it was the first time they were officially on the record supporting the school's project. In this case, the city council gave approval to CNU to seek tax-exempt financing.
Even though the agenda items was narrowly focused, dozens of people took the opportunity to speak on the matter. Below are 13 videos of speakers offering perspectives on the proposed hospital in Elk Grove's Stonelake neighborhood.
