By way of filing, Elk Grove City Council member verifies reelection bid

Although a formal announcement has not been made, today an Elk Grove City Council member has announced their intention to seek another term.

With California Form 501 filing, District 3 City Councilmember and current Elk Grove Vice Mayor Kevin Spease has documented his intent to seek another four-year term. Spease, the sole Republican on the city council, was elected as the District 3 representative in 2020 after unsuccessfully running for mayor in 2016.

Two of Spease's city council colleagues on the 2024 ballot, Councilmember Darren Suen and Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen, have actively fund raised during the first six months of 2023. Spease has eschewed fundraising this year and has minimal campaign funds while carrying a large campaign debt.

Spease's campaign statement of intention can be viewed here
