Matsui slams Trump's budget proposal calling it the 'big ugly bill'

With the U.S. Congress convening at 1 a.m. today to work on passage of President Donald Trump's budget, officially called the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," there has been pushback. Along with Republicans from moderate districts seeking deductions for state and local taxes, also known as SALT, and other budget hawks who want further cuts, Democratic congressional representatives are also pushing back.

As she has in recent weeks, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-Calif.) has released a series of videos critical of Trump and Republican policy proposals. This morning, Ms. Matsui released a video calling out Republican budget policies.

Taking a run at the president's official name for the bill, Matsui began her presentation by calling it a "big ugly bill." She noted the bill's text was "released in the middle of the night" to avoid scrutiny and "jamming it through committees in the middle of the night."

See Matsui's entire commentary in the video below.

Memo to Matsui, since i doubt she read the 1,000 page-long bill. According to NPR (of all sources!), the bill includes the extension of the tax cuts which include higher standard deductions through 2028 and adjusted for inflation, with those over age 65 on Social Security receiving an extra $4,000 annual credit. The bill also adds new tax benefits such as no taxes on tips or overtime and increases in the child tax credit.

Twenty years ago these items would have been on the Democrat's to-do list. So I assume middle-class Democrats who will be enjoying these benefits will donate their newfound cash to charity? Didn't think so.
