Elk Grove Police officers used a taser on a man suspected of interfering with the arrest of another suspect.

The incident started on Saturday afternoon with 20-year old Ivan Crawford of Elk Grove was observed operating a motor vehicle and was known to have an outstanding felony out for his arrest and driving on suspended license. Officers initiated a stop on the 2300 block of Dinwiddie Way.

While officers were conducting their interview with the suspect, 57-year old Robert Crawford of Elk Grove came out of his residence and reportedly began interfering with officer who was dealing with the younger Crawford. Additional officers arrived and stood between the older Crawford and and the officer who was attempting to take the younger Crawford into custody.

The older Crawford reportedly did not follow instructions to step away and pushed an officer who lost their balance. When other officers detained the original suspect, the older Crawford pulled away and actively resisted efforts to by placed in handcuffs.

To restrain the older Crawford an officer used a taser on him. After being medically evaluated, the older Crawford was arrested along with the younger suspect.
