Have you ever wanted to ask a police officer a question, but didn’t know how to go about doing it? Officers from the Elk Grove Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit will be available to answer questions from members of the community next week.

on Thursday, Feb. 7, from 7 to 9 am Elk Grove Police will host meetings at two McDonald’s locations, 8282 Laguna Blvd. and 8710 Elk Grove Blvd., as part of the “Coffee with a Cop” program. The “Coffee with a Cop” program is a unique way to strengthen the partnership between the police department and the community it serves.

“It’s very important that our police officers develop strong relationships within the community,” Elk Grove Police Chief Robert Lehner said. “We believe that this type of open dialogue plays a critical role in establishing a true partnership between the community and the police department.”

Members of the community will be able to ask specific or general questions related to the neighborhoods they live in. For additional information, please contact Crime Prevention Specialist Denise Costello at (916) 478-8117 or Sergeant James Fuller of the Problem Oriented Policing at (916) 627-3727.

Additional dates and locations will be posted on the Elk Grove Police Department’s web site as they become available.

I'm not sure I can find those McDonalds locations without a freeway oriented sign...

These are great opportunities for the citizenry to meet their beat cops.

Hats off the the EGPD for arranging these meetings. I'll be at work, but I hope those of you who are available show up, if for no other reason to thank these officers for putting their lives on the line for us every day.
