An Elk Grove man taken into custody last night after he was arrested on multiple charges following a suspected drunk driving accident.

According to Elk Grove Police, 55-year old Michael Estes was operating a motor vehicle near Bruceville Road and Big Horn Boulevard that was involved in a collision with another vehicle. Estes allegedly fled the scene of the collision by driving on the wrong side of the roadway.

Officers contacted Estes who was seated in the driver's seat of the vehicle and upon contact, Estes refused to comply with instructions to exit the vehicle. Officers were able to detained the suspect after physically removing him from inside the vehicle and observed that he displayed objective signs of impairment.

A records check revealed that Estes' driver's license was suspended and that he had an active warrant out for his arrest. Estes was arrested then medically cleared for incarceration at a local hospital and transported to the main jail.
