Elk Grove-South County Democratic Club Endorses Fong, Fuentes For SCOE

May 15, 2016 |

At their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday night, the Elk Grove-South County Democratic Club made endorsements in two races for the Sacramento County Office of Education.

Making presentations to the club members were Orlando Fuentes and Stephanie Nguyen for the Area Six seat and Harold Fong and Roy Grimes for Area Seven. After hearing their presentations, by a vote of members in attendance Fuentes and Fong were selected.

In addition to Nguyen and Fuentes, there are two other candidates, Heather Davis and Jrmar Jefferson running for Area Six in the June primary. If no candidate secures 50-percent plus one, the top two finishers will face off in the November election. Fong, who is an incumbent, and Grimes are the only candidates for Area Seven seat.

Fuentes, who is a member and founding chairperson of the City of Elk Grove's Multicultural Committee, said he was grateful for receiving the endorsement in what he says will be a very competitive race.

"There are other very qualified candidates who are also running," Fuentes said. "I am committed to being a responsive board member who actively encourages members of the community including parents and educational activists to let me know their concerns and issues."

More information about Fuentes' candidacy is available on his website or his Facebook page Facebook/Orlando Fuentes for SCOE
