June 22, 2016 |

An Elk Grove man is being held at the Sacramento County Jail after he allegedly choked and threatened his mother-in-law early yesterday afternoon.

The suspect, 42-year old Gurjindar Singh (pictured above) was in a verbal argument with another person at a residence on the 8300 block of Tigerlily Court. During the argument, Singh approached his mother-in-law and began choking her.

While choking his victim, Singh demanded money from her, struck her several times on the back of the head, pushed her to the floor and fled the residence.

The victim was granted an emergency protective order, and when Singh returned to the location, he was arrested and booked into the county jail.  The suspect, who will be arraigned tomorrow afternoon, is being held on a $1 million bail and is charged with elder abuse, attempted robbery, and assault.
