Elk Grove Resident Accuses Elk Grove Police of Mistreating African American Man - 'I'm not gonna let go'

June 8, 2016 |

During the public comment section of the Elk Grove City Council meeting, one resident expressed concern on the treatment of a person arrested by Elk Grove Police on Saturday, June 4.

The comments were made by Elk Grove resident Joe Debbs, pictured above at tonight's meeting. An Aid for California State Senator Richard Pan (D -Sacramento), Debbs appeared as a private citizen expressing concerns regarding the circumstances of how a young African-American man was arrested by Elk Grove Police Department last Saturday afternoon as he was walking precincts for a political candidate.

Debbs did not name the person arrested and there was no incident resembling the verbal description included in the EGPD's Daily Watch Summary for last Saturday.

Below is an audio of Debb's description of the incident in its entirety.

Chicken scheisse. This will get dropped so fast to keep it out of the headlines. The city and DA spin doctors don't want to see national headlines like what happened a few weeks ago with the EGUSD graduation ceremony.
