Wilton Rancheria to Host Community Meeting Regarding Proposed Elk Grove Casino

June 29, 2016 |

The Wilton Rancheria will host a community meeting regarding their proposed Elk Grove casino next week.

The townhall style meeting will be held at the Falls Event Center, 8280 Elk Grove Blvd. on Wednesday, July 6 and will start at 5:30 p.m. According to their Facebook event notification, "Tribal leaders will present an overview of their resort and casino project, receive community feedback and answer questions."

The Wilton Rancheria is proposing to build a $400 million casino resort on a portion of the site of the unfinished Outlet Collection at Elk Grove. The owner of the shopping center, the Howard Hughes Corporation, has agreed to sell the tribe 35.9-acres should the project's federal environmental impact report be approved.

More information about the project is available at the Wilton Racheria's website

I find it curious that they are hosting the meeting during 4th of July week. Makes it seem like they are expecting a lot of opposition and they want to minimize the negativity as much as possible. I hope people care enough to show up, this could have huge impacts on our city.

I want to know when each of the tribe members are going to pat back the government the $250,000 each of them received when the tribe was decertified as an active tribe by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The agreement stipulated that if the tribe as ever reactivated all monies paid tribe members had to be paid back. This never hsppened. Now they want Montreal land to be designates to rip the public and Elk Grove off again. What sucker Elk Grove is.

Response to Craig: Historically speaking of course, somehow I don't think the tribe is at all concerned about our nation's celebration of Independence Day! :)

Ace, I'm sure you're right about that. However, maybe they're counting on people being gone because of the holiday which limits the amount of people that would attend.

This is Elk Grove the city council has zero care for the citzens of EG they only care about the money. The same reason why the council before rejected the design of the proposed aquatic center stating it look like a space ship but now they are cool with having a Costco in the same spot that is a huge box in middle of town.
