Elk Grove Police Arrests Two Suspects For Shoplifting, Outstanding Warrants

November 7, 2016 |

Two suspects are in custody at the Sacramento County Jail on multiple charges after an attempted shoplifting incident at an Elk Grove retailer.

On Sunday, November 6, 29-year-old Dorthy Richards of Sacramento was allegedly observed trying to steal merchandise from the Burlington Coat Factory store on East Stockton Boulevard. As Richards approached the exit, she discarded all of the items before leaving the store.

Elk Grove Police officers responded to the location and contacted Richards. After being detained, a records check revealed that Richards had active warrants out for her arrest and was in possession of a pair of needle-nose pliers.

In relation to Richards' arrest, officers also contacted 41-year old Ward Donald in the parking lot. Officers arrested Ward after a records search had revealed he too had several actives warrants.

Richards and Ward were booked in the county jail where they are being held on bail. Arraignment is Tuesday, November 8.
