Elk Grove Police Execute Search Warrant on Pot House, Suspect Attempts to Flee

November 17, 2016 |

An Elk Grove man suspected of operating residential marijuana grow operation attempted to flee apprehension as police executed a search warrant.

On the early morning of November, 16 detectives from the Elk Grove Police Department served a search warrant on the 9100 block of Bungalow Way in a north Laguna neighborhood. While serving the warrant, 53-year old Jesus Zamudio (pictured above) attempted to flee out of a rear entrance but was quickly detained.

The search led to the discovery of a marijuana operation with over 300 mature plants and packaging material. SMUD also discovered that power was illegally diverting power to operate equipment for the operation.

Zamudio was arrested and faces felony charges of manufacturing an illegal substance and theft from a public utility and is scheduled for arraignment on November 18. Bail is $150,000, however, the suspect is not eligible for release because of the seriousness of the crime.
