Two Suspects Arrested by Elk Grove Police on Handgun Possession Charges

November 30, 2016 |

In two separate incidents yesterday, Elk Grove Police arrested suspects on illegal possession of handguns.

The first incident occurred on the early morning of Tuesday, November 29 on the 6600 block of Baveno Way when officers responded to a disturbance call.  Upon arrival, officers received information that there was a handgun inside 27-year old Ahmed Yusufu's vehicle.

A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the discovery of stolen unloaded handgun. Yusufu (pictured above)  was arrested, booked into the county jail and is being held on a $50,000 bail. Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, December 1.

Yesterday's second incident happened just before midnight when officers stopped a vehicle near Franklin Boulevard and Lake Pleasant Drive for a vehicle code violation.  A records search checked revealed that the driver of the vehicle did not have a driver’s license.

An inventory search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded stolen handgun on the rear floor board just under the driver’s seat. Police arrested 18-year old Alvin Wesley of Sacramento for handgun possession.

Wesley was booked into the county jail where he is being held on $20,000 but is not eligible for bail because of a previous arrest warrant. Arraignment is scheduled for Friday, December 2.
