Tip Leads to Arrest of Suspect With 400 lbs. of Illegal Fireworks



Based on a tip, the Stockton Police Department seized over 400 pounds of illegal fireworks.

Around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 26 the department's Fireworks Task Force, which is comprised of Stockton Police officers and Stockton Fire personnel, responded to the 3100 block of Trident Street in Stockton.

Upon arrival, the garage door was open and team members observed illegal fireworks in plain view. Officers arrested William Yanes, 37, of Stockton on felony charges related to possessing illegal fireworks.

After making sure all the illegal fireworks were safely removed, the Task Force believe they seized between 300 to 400 pounds of illegal fireworks with a value of approximately $10,000.
