Elk Grove Police used a spike track to stop a suspected drunk driver who tried to elude apprehension.

On the afternoon of Sunday, July 9, Paul Konrath, 53, of Sacramento was operating his vehicle in a reported reckless manner. When Elk Grove Police responded to the call and located the vehicle near Bond and Elk Grove-Florin roads, Konrath did not stop and led officers on a one mile pursuit. 

After deploying a spike strip near Elk Grove Boulevard and Village Oak Lane, Konrath was contacted and displayed objective signs of impairment. Officer also reportedly found an open alcohol container in his vehicle.

After failing a field sobriety test, Konrath was arrested and booked into the county jail.
