Suspect Arrested in Elk Grove Murder

Elk Grove Police have identified and arrested the suspect in connection to the murder in Elk Grove. 

Michael Terrell Jones, 27, of Citrus Heights was arrested and taken into custody yesterday after being medically treated for gunshot wounds he sustained in the Monday, July 3 incident. Jones, who allegedly shot and killed his male victim, sought treatment treatment at an area hospital after being wounded n the incident.

The suspect arrived at the hospital Monday night as Elk Grove Police were responding to the Avery Garden Apartments on Elk Grove Boulevard shooting. Upon arrival at the scene, police located the victim in a vehicle, who was deceased.

Detectives determined Jones' wounds were related to the shooting death and after being medically cleared was arrested, booked into the county jail where he is being on murder charges and is not eligible for bail. Jones' will be arraigned this afternoon.

The name of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office. Because the investigation is ongoing, further details of the incident have not been released.
