Man Arrested For Role in Alleged Late Night Elk Grove Shootout

September 28, 2017 |

An Elk Grove man is being held at the Sacramento County Jail after he was arrested for allegedly exchanging gunfire.

Just after midnight on Wednesday, September 27, Elk Grove Police responded to the 9300 block of Miko Circle in north Elk Grove after receiving a report of gun fire. When officers arrived, it was determined that an unknown suspect or suspects had fired a handgun that struck an occupied residence and a parked vehicle.

In response to the shooting, Dayshawn Jesse Barker, 19, occupied his residence, which was struck, and allegedly fired a handgun at the fleeing suspects. The gunfire hit another vehicle and an occupied residence.

Police officers detained Barker and located the handgun used in the alleged shooting. A records checked showed that the handgun used by Barker had been reported stolen.

Barker is being held on $100,000 bail and is charged with felony charges of discharging a gun at a dwelling and possession of stolen goods. Arraignment is scheduled for Friday, September 29.

There were no reported injuries from the shootings. Due to the ongoing investigation of the incident, a booking photo of the suspect is not being released.
