Man Pistol Whipped, Robbed at Late Night Meeting in Elk Grove After Using 'Online Application'

A man was assaulted and robbed after he appeared to be set up for a meeting under presumed pretenses in Elk Grove. 

According to Elk Grove Police, the victim had arranged for a meeting with someone he had communicated with using what was described as an "online application" on the 8300 block of Kiawah Court in the Laguna area on Saturday, October 7 at 2:30 a.m. While the victim was waiting, an unknown person quickly approached him, brandished a handgun and demanded property. 

The suspect then struck the victim in the face with the handgun, stole his cash, and fled the area on foot. The attack resulted in a visible injury, and the victim was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel. 

The suspect is described as a Black male adult, in his 20's wearing a red zip-up hoodie and jeans.
