Two Nighttime Stabbings Occur Within Minutes, Short Distances of Each Other in Elk Grove

Two stabbing assaults that shared other similarities occurred within minutes and a short distance of each other in Elk Grove.

The first of the two assaults that happened near Elk Grove-Florin Road in the vicinity of Elk Grove High School occurred on Friday, November 24 at 10:38 p.m. In that incident, the victim was walking near Emerald Park Drive and Elk Grove-Florin when he was approached from behind and punched in the head.

After he was struck and fell to the ground, three suspects demanded money, and when the victim refused, the suspects began hitting him. During the assault, one of the suspects produced a knife and stabbed the victim resulting in a non-life threatening injury that was treated at an area hospital.

All three suspects were described as unknown males of unknown race, approximately 20 years old and were wearing dark colored hoodies. 

The second incident happened nine minutes later at 10:47 p.m. near Elk Grove-Florin and Cadura Circle. The two victims were walking when they were approached by two suspects when they demanded the victim's property.   

Both victims started to run away from the suspects when they were both were struck in the back of the head with an unknown object. Both victims fell to the ground, and one of the suspects peppered sprayed one of the victims in the eye then proceeded to stab him in the leg. 

The suspects then took the stabbing victim's backpack and fled on foot. The stabbing victim was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

The first suspect was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 16-17 years old, 5’10, 150 lbs, and was wearing a black hoodie with black pants. The other suspect was described as an African-American male about 16-17 years old, 5’10, 150 lbs, and was wearing a black hoodie with black pants.

Elk Grove Police public information officer Christopher Trim said "Even though there is limited suspect information in one of the assaults, based on the time, proximity and M.O. (modus operandi), they may be related."
