In a new wrinkle to pot house operations in Elk Grove, a bust by Elk Grove Police also involved child protective services.

Just before noon on Friday, February 5, Elk Grove Police assisted officers from Child Protective Services who were performing a welfare check on the 8400 block of Kinder Lane. When officers contacted a resident of the dwelling, Neng Vang, 34, of Elk Grove, they discovered an active indoor marijuana growing operation, and an unsecured loaded shotgun.

Officers seized over 20 pounds of processed marijuana, approximately 37 marijuana plants, and the loaded shotgun. Vang was arrested on three misdemeanor and felony child endangerment charges and remains in custody with arraignment scheduled for February 6.

The five children were placed into protective custody by CPS.
