July 13, 2018 |

In a jury trial that concluded yesterday, a Sacramento man was found guilty in the strangulation murder of a former business partner.

Kyle Billy Fletcher was convicted for the first-degree murder of Daniel Aiello and possession and transportation of methamphetamine for the purpose of sales. The jury also found true that Fletcher personally used a dangerous weapon in the commission of the murder.

Evidence presented in the trial showed the victim, Daniel Aiello, had known Fletcher for several years and was his business partner at Midtown Moped, a moped shop on X Street in Sacramento. On April 14, 2015, Aiello accused Fletcher of embezzling from the business and informed him that he filed a police report.

The next day, April 15, 2015, Sacramento Police officers responded to a report of loud noises at the business and saw Fletcher trying to remove a surveillance system from the business. Fletcher was detained and officers located Mr. Aiello deceased inside the business with a belt around his neck.

Flethcer was also found to 50 grams of methamphetamine in Fletcher’s vehicle. An autopsy was performed and the cause of Mr. Aiello’s death was determined to be strangulation.

Fletcher faces a maximum sentence of 30 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for August 24, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. in Department 11 before the Judge Trena Burger-Plavan.
