Traffic Advisory - Funeral Procession Honoring Officer Tara O'Sullivan to Close East Elk Grove Roads Thursday

ELK GROVE, CA – The City of Elk Grove will implement temporary traffic controls along Elk Grove Boulevard, Waterman and Sheldon Roads on Thursday, June 27 to facilitate funeral processions honoring Sacramento Police Officer Tara O’Sullivan.
The morning procession is expected to consist of 50-75 law enforcement vehicles. The procession is scheduled to travel westbound from Herberger Funeral Home at 9101 Elk Grove to Highway 99 at approximately 8 a.m. Elk Grove Boulevard will be closed in both directions from Kent Street to Highway 99 starting at approximately 7:30 a.m.  The closure will remain in effect until the entire procession has gotten onto Highway 99.
The afternoon procession is expected to consist of over 500 law enforcement vehicles. The procession is scheduled to exit Highway 99 at Elk Grove Boulevard and travel eastbound on Elk Grove Boulevard back to Herberger Funeral Home at approximately 1:30 p.m. The procession will then proceed eastbound Elk Grove Boulevard to northbound Waterman Road to westbound Sheldon Road to southbound E. Stockton Blvd.
Traffic Delays & Detours: A traffic plan has been created and road closures and detours will be in effect from approximately 7:30 to 9 a.m. and 1:30 to 5 p.m or until the procession has reached its destinations. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes during the closure as traffic will be heavily impacted.
Below are the closures for the June 27th event (times are approximate):

7:30-9 a.m.: Elk Grove Boulevard from Kent Street to Highway 99
1:30- 5 p.m.: Elk Grove Boulevard from Highway 99 to Waterman Road, Waterman Road from Elk Grove Boulevard to Sheldon Road, Sheldon Road from Waterman Road to E. Stockton Boulevard, and E. Stockton Boulevard to just south of Creekside Church (8939 E. Stockton Boulevard)

Driveway access points will be temporarily closed, and no ingress or egress will be allowed.
Some residential routes from Waterman Road may also be affected including but not necessarily limited to Rancho Drive.
