In
Sacramento County there is a little-known agency whose profile will resurface
like a cicada in the coming months. That agency is the Sacramento Transporation Authority
– or the STA.
The STA is a multi-jurisdictional agency that disburses funds from a special county-wide
sales tax for transportation projects. On Thursday, November 14, the STA held
their monthly meeting to discuss the possibility of placing a sales tax
increase on the November 2020 Sacramento County-wide ballot.
In this edition, we’ll give
an overview of that meeting, listen to some
of the public comments, and look at the
challenges facing the STA with a possible sales tax measure on next year’s
ballot.
