Two suspects arrested by Elk Grove Police on illegal marijuana grow operation, child cruelty charges



Two suspects are in custody at the Sacramento County jail on charges related to an illegal marijuana growing operation and child cruelty charges.

At 7 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, detectives from the Elk Grove Police Department's street crimes unit served a warrant on the 8900 block of Mooney Road for an illegal marijuana grow operation. Over 1,380 plants were found and indicia of sales were found in a child's room.

Two suspects, Armando Garcia Tapia, 32, and Leily Urizar, 24 are not eligible for release and will be arraigned on Tuesday, November 12. Police did not report the presence of children during the search.
