Next week a virtual town hall meeting has been scheduled to discuss Dignity Health's planned hospital expansion in Elk Grove.

The Tuesday, June 30 town hall meeting will be conducted by Elk Grove District 1 City Councilmember Darren Suen. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and is scheduled for one hour.

Earlier this year, Dignity Health announced its long-awaited expansion in Elk Grove near their existing facility of Wymark Drive in the city's Civic Center district in city council District 4. Dignity's facility, which is expected to open in about five years, will have 100-beds and will be the city's first full-service hospital.

The description for the event says "Join us for a virtual town hall with Elk Grove Councilman Darren Suen to discuss the future of health care here in Elk Grove." It does not say who, if anyone, from Dignity Health, will be joining Suen for the one-hour event.

Registration for the meeting is requested.

Sounds like a campaign strategy shift for Suen. The old Suen was all up in CNU's...stethoscope, and now the new and reinvented Suen has become the broader health care in general candidate. A town hall meeting for a project that has already been approved and won't be built for at least 5 years?

Interesting timing as the Pandemic has taken over our lives these last few months. Will Sutter make any announcements? Since Mayor Ly is deep in the pockets of CNU I didn’t think he would be the front person to a great health care provider. Suen is showing leadership bringing this town hall to the citizens of Elk Grove.

Interesting. My question would be, what is Mr. Suens expertise in discussing the future of health care in Elk Grove? Best to try to keep the City of Elk Grove from running off the tracks and leave the health care to the health care professionals and government officials.
