Today the Sacramento County District Attorney's office announced charges against 38 individuals suspects fo a variety of charges including looting and vandalism at locations.
According to the DA's press release the suspects were involved in 13 incidents countywide. All events took place in the late evening hours of May 31 to the early morning hours of June 1.
Charges were filed in all of the cases received as follows:
1. At 2 a.m., two
defendants (one male, one female) were found leaving the Target on
Riverside Blvd. with merchandise taken from Target. One of them admitted to the theft. They were both charged with commercial burglary, looting,
and resisting arrest.
2. At 1 a.m., the male defendant was observed exiting PF Chang’s located at 15th and J St. He was in possession of a bottle of alcohol. He resisted arrest while a
large crowd gathered around officers. He was charged with commercial burglary, looting, and resisting arrest.
3. At 1:40 a.m., the female
defendant was observed exiting the Capitol Garage restaurant and bar at
1500 K Street with various beverages. She was charged with commercial burglary and looting.
4. At 12:30 a.m., a security
guard observed the four defendants (one female, three males) exit
Antojo Street Taco Bar at 1535 N Street with bottles of alcohol. The suspects fled when they saw police but were detained soon thereafter.
They were in possession of several bottles of alcohol. They were charged
commercial burglary, looting, and receiving stolen property.
5. At midnight, several subjects were located inside the Sunrise Mall. One of the female adult suspects admitted to driving six juveniles to the mall. She also admitted that someone broke glass and she went inside. They went to the
Vans store, but then heard police and ran. Several boxes of new shoes were found in her trunk. The second suspect was found in a car parked at the mall just outside of the broken glass point of entry. When police arrived, she fled in her car and took police on a three-mile pursuit.
Both were charged with commercial burglary, looting, and receiving stolen property. The second suspect was also charged with reckless evasion of a peace officer.
6. A male adult suspect was
observed by police exiting the Tri-Counties Bank at 801 K Street at 1 a.m. with a baseball bat. He was stopped nearby. His backpack contained pills which he admitted he stole from Rite Aid on K Street. He was charged with two counts each of commercial burglary and looting as well as vandalism and receiving stolen property.
7. At 12 a.m., a male
adult suspect was observed fleeing Walgreens located at 2201 Arden Way.
He was stopped nearby and in possession of stolen items. He was charged
with commercial burglary, looting, and receiving stolen property.
8. At 2:30 a.m., two male defendants were observed trying to break into Paradyme on 1720 Fulton.
They were charged with attempted burglary and attempted looting.
9. At 2 a.m., officers
were called out to a burglary alarm at a State of California building at
1441 Howe Ave. The STAR helicopter unit observed the male suspect and others throwing rocks at the windows. As patrol officers arrived, the suspects fled. Patrol officers stopped the suspect near the scene. He was charged with attempted burglary, attempted looting, and vandalism.
10. The male adult suspect was observed leaving the Chick-fil-A located at 8104 Cosumnes River Blvd at 2:30 a.m. He was charged with commercial burglary, looting, and resisting arrest.
11. At 2:50 a.m., a male
adult suspect and a female adult suspect were observed fleeing a Boost
Mobile store located at 6176 Auburn Blvd. Their car drove off as officers approached, reached speeds in excess of 100 mph and ran a red light. An infant was located in a child seat in the rear of the car.
They were charged with commercial burglary, looting, reckless evasion of a peace officer, child endangerment, and receiving stolen property.
12. Several people were seen exiting a closed business (Oxford Street) located at 7201 Stockton Blvd at 2:00 a.m. As officers arrived, the three defendants (two males, one female) exited the business carrying assorted merchandise. They were charged with commercial burglary and looting.
13. At approximately 12:30
a.m., multiple people were observed fleeing the CVS pharmacy located at
1701 K Street. As officers arrived, 11vindividuals were located either inside or just outside the store, many with stolen property in their possession. They were charged with commercial burglary, looting and receiving stolen property.
Curfew citations in Sacramento are being cited under a city code section, and are being handled by the City Attorney.
