In the five-candidate race to fill the District 3 Elk Grove City Council seat being vacated by Steve Detrick, the latest tallies would appear to make Kevin Spease the winner.

Voting results released this afternoon by Sacramento County Voter Registration and Elections show that Spease, a former Elk Grove Planning Commissioner, has maintained his first-place status with 32-percent, with 3,904 of 11,874 counted in District 3. Spease held his first-place position, which was status unchanged from the previous tally released early Wednesday morning.

According to information from Political Data Inc., as of Monday, there were 14,120 ballots returned. Although the number of ballots returned on November 3 is not available, it is estimated to be about 2,000 additional, bringing the total to over 16,000.

In second place is Amandeep Singh with 20-percent or 2,415 votes, and Maureen Craft is in third place with 19-percent or 2,281. The current tally is posted below.

As of this evening, none of the five candidates have issued statements on the latest tallies.
