End of Watch Fund holds successful inaugural chili cook-off at Elk Grove Park

The End of Watch Fund held a successful inaugural chili-cook-off on Saturday at Elk Grove Regional Park. 

The fund, a non-profit organized by officers from the Elk Grove Police Department, provides services for families of fallen public safety officers and law enforcement employees facing difficulties. Additionally, the fund serves specific outreach programs and strives to build a positive relationship between law enforcement and the community.

The proceed from the cook-off and the accompanying car show help fund the group's activities. 

Among the 12 teams competing in the chili cook-off, the Livermore-based team of Double J with chef John Bird and assistant John Biehl not only won peoples' choice but earned first place in judging. 

The second-place team in judging was the Elk Grove's Notorious P.I.G. team of Marieza Calip and Jack, Kathy, and Steve Lee. Third place in judging went to KW Sweet and Salty. 

The significance of the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks was also recognized by the organizers with a display and ceremony honoring the public safety and service members who perished.
