Saturday night shooting in Elk Grove leaves one dead, another injured




A late-night shooting in Elk Grove has left one person dead and another injured.

According to information released by Elk Grove Police, at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, officers responded to the shooting on the 3400 block of Elk Grove in the city's Laguna West neighborhood. When officers arrived, they discovered one of the victims had been taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound who succumbed to the injury.

Another person was also wounded with non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at an area hospital. Police detectives are investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting and have not released any further information.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Detective Bureau at (916) 478-8060. The decedent's name will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner pending notification to the next of kin.
