Memorial fund established for family of fallen Elk Grove Police officer

A memorial fund benefitting the family of an Elk Grove Police officer who died in the line of duty in Sacramento was established today.

Officer Tyler Lenehan, a six-year veteran of the EGPD was killed shortly after 5 a.m. on Friday, January 21 after a suspected drunk driver collided with his motorcycle on Highway 99. The suspected impaired motorist was driving in the wrong direction when he hit Lenehan.

In their posting, the Elk Grove Police said "As this is the only official memorial fund, any other fundraising links should be considered fraudulent." Below is their post from Twitter which includes a link to the authenticated account.
