Overnight warming location to operate for three nights in Elk Grove starting today

From The City of Elk Grove |

An Overnight Warming Location (OWL)  will operate at the Wackford Community Complex located at 9014 Bruceville Road beginning tonight, Tuesday, February 22, and operating nightly through Thursday, February 24.

The OWL is open to adults 18 and older who lack shelter or adequate home heating. Operating hours will be 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. each day. Pets are not permitted. Face coverings will be required unless visitors are eating or sleeping. Families with children will be referred to a motel voucher program coordinated by Elk Grove HART.

Cosumnes Fire Department CERT, Elk Grove Police Department, and Elk Grove HART volunteers will staff the OWL. Organizers initiated the opening of the OWL because projected temperatures will fall to or below a 32 degree RealFeel two days in a row.

Visit elkgrovecity.org/owl for more information about the program or to sign up to receive notifications whenever an OWL is scheduled to open.
