As primary political mailer season winds down, Nguyen takes run at Guerra in 10th District California Assembly race

With the final day of voting in the California June 2022 Primary Election winding down, one of the top Democratic candidates for the 10th District California Assembly dropped an attack mailer on a rival.

The attack ad came from Elk Grove City Councilmember Stephanie Nguyen against fellow Democrat Sacramento City Councilmember Eric Guerra. The focus of the mailer called Really Eric? is Sacramento's homeless population.

The mailer included a quote from Guerra on homelessness in Sacramento, saying he "prioritized addressing homeless and we've made significant strides . . ." The quote is followed by "Really Eric?"

Nguyen has tried to bludgeon Guerra with Sacramento's homeless population and has made it one of the pillars of her campaign. In a previous campaign mailer, Nguyen included pictures of Sacramento's encampments compared to a pastoral image of suburban Elk Grove.

Although Sacramento has a much larger homeless population, in recognition of Elk Grove's growing homeless population, Nguyen and fellow Elk Grove City Councilmember Republican Pat Hume have formed a homeless task force to address the city's problems. However, Nguyen and Hume have yet to make specific recommendations to eliminate Elk Grove's encampments.

Hume, like Nguyen, has made homelessness a focus of his campaign. Like every other candidate, Hume and Nguyen have not provided concrete solutions to solving the problem.
