Several area candidates endorsed by the California Democratic and Sacramento County Democratic Party spoke this afternoon to volunteers as they prepared to canvass neighborhoods.

The event was held at the California Democratic Party headquarters and featured several candidates, including State Senate District 2 candidate Dave Jones and State Assembly District 10 candidate Eric Guerra. Jones and Guerra are respectively facing fellow Democrats Angelique Ashby and Stephanie Nguyen.

Among other candidates speaking were Sacramento City Council candidate Caity Maple, Lisa Kaplan, and Karina Talamantes. Also, State Senate District 6 candidate Paula Villescaz spoke before several dozen volunteers.

Villescaz is facing Republic Roger Niello for the open seat. The district includes large portions of unincorporated Sacramento County, Galt, and South Placer County communities like Lincoln Roseville.

Also speaking were two Elk Grove Democratic candidates running for open positions, Sergio Robles and Michael Vargas. Robles is running for the Elk Grove City Council District 4, and Vargas is campaigning for Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Trustees Area 2.

A high-priority race for the Sacramento County Democratic Party is between Democrat Jaclyn Moreno, who is running against Republican Pat Hume. Moreno was reportedly canvassing and had campaign manager Ryan Brown speak on her behalf.

Videos of presentations from Jones, Guerra, Maples, Villescaz, and Brown on behalf of Moreno can be viewed below.
