Real estate developers, Democratic establishment line-up with Robles for District 2; Bermudez relying on grassroots donors



As the establishment's favorite, Sergio Robles raised tens of thousands of dollars for his Elk Grove City Council District 4 candidacy.





According to the California Form 460, for the period July 1 through September 24, Robles received $46,735, which included $425 in non-monetary contributions. Since entering the District 4 race - Robles had first entered the District 2 race but moved earlier this year - Robles has received $51,015.

An Elk Grove Planning Commissioner, Robles is the real estate developer and the Democratic establishments' candidate of choice. The other candidate is Giezi Bermudez.

Among Robles' significant donors are the following:
  • Bob's Club - $750
  • Rep. Ami Bera - $1,000
  • Dr. Janine Bera - $1,000
  • Angelique Ashby for City Council - $1,000
  • California Association of Realtors - $1,000
  • Laborers Local 185 -  $1,000
  • Sacramento County Young Democrats - $2,000
  • Elk Grove Land Investments (John Reynen) - $2,500
  • Super Pallet Recycling Corp. - $2,500
  • Angelo K. Tsakopoulus AKT Development - $3,900
  • Chrisa Pappas LLC - $4,900
  • John Papagiannopoulos, JCP Properties LLC - $4,900
  • River City Waste Recycler - $4,900
  • Sofia Tsakopoulus Investments - $4,900
Robles enters the final weeks of the contest with $37,710.

Bermudez, a late entry into the race and running a grassroots campaign relying on heavy canvassing, showed 16 individual donations totaling $5,245, including $90 in non-monetary contributions. Unlike Robles, Bermudez has not received corporate money.
