Weekend sandbag center to operate in Elk Grove, limits increased

In anticipation of heavy rains, the City of Elk Grove announced this morning that two sandbag distribution centers will operate.

In addition to the city's Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. distribution at the city's corporate yards at 10250 Iron Rock Way, a weekend facility will be open tomorrow and Sunday. That distribution point will be held at the new library located on the southwest corner of Elk Grove Blvd. and Waterman Road, 9260 Elk Grove Blvd.

While the 10-bag limit will remain at the Iron Rock facility, there will be a 25-bag limit at the Elk Grove Blvd. distribution point. The Elk Grove Blvd. distribution will operate on Saturday and Sunday, but the hours of operation were not provided.

Both facilities are self-serve, and users must supply their own shovels.

It's too bad the Measure E sales tax increase did not budget funds for the City to provide a few loaner shovels! You're on your own folks!
