One of the things characteristic of Elk Grove is urban sprawl. For all us subdivision dwellers, if you want to get anything, from a meal to groceries, you’ve got to get in your car and drive.
Well, for those fortunate to live near Elk Grove-Florin and Sheldon roads, you are in luck – there is tastefully decorated neighborhood café within walking distance. And here is the best part: it serves delicious meals at very reasonable prices.
This little gem is JJn’R Café and Donut. Located in the Sheldon Crossing shopping center, a recent Sunday morning visit found the friendly and attentive staff serving large breakfasts to a throng of appreciative patrons.
For breakfast we had an “Islander Special” which included eggs, garlic rice and tocino (a sweet marinated Filipino pork dish) for only $4.49. The other dish was a #5 which included two eggs, hash browns, toast and two large tender breaded pork chops for only $5.49.
JJn’R also has a varied lunch menu that literally ranges from hot dogs to rib eye steaks. As their name implies, they also sell a wide variety of fresh donuts.
We definitely will visit again and will walk there to burn off all those calories!
JJn’R is located in the Sheldon Crossing shopping center at 8821 Sheldon Road, Suite 130, Elk Grove. Call 688-0509 for hours.
