For months it seemed like two-term Elk Grove City council member incumbent Jim Cooper would go unchallenged. Last week former challenger LaWanna Mongomery drew papers to challenge Cooper.
Yesterday another candidate filed papers to challenge Cooper for the district 1 seat. The third candidate is Jose Romero.
Romero has until August 8 to file his final petition and election documents.
