Campaign has over $100k; most comes from personal loan

If money is any indication of how successful a political campaign will do, then Elk Grove city council member Mike Leary is in serious trouble.

In campaign finance documents filed today with the city clerk of Elk Grove, political newcomer Steve Detrick has amassed a war chest of $112,000 in his bid to for the third district council seat. Detrick is challenging Leary, who is seeking his third fourth year term.

According to the documents, Detrick has loaned his campaign over $107,000. The balance of his contributions came primarily from individual donors.

As of his last filing in February of this year for the second half of last calender year, Leary has a war chest of $24,000. All the candidates have until the end of the month to file for the first half of the year.
