Detrick gets endorsement from Elk Grove Police Officers

Body blow to career cop Mike Leary's re-election bid


The Elk Grove Police Officers Association has endorsed Steve Detrick in his bid for the Elk Grove city council.

Detrick said he was honored to receive the endorsement of Elk Grove police officers. "It tells me that my plan for reducing crime in Elk Grove makes sense to both law enforcement and the voters," Detrick said.

The endorsement comes as a blow to two-term incumbent Mike Leary who is a lieutenant in the Sacramento Sheriffs Dept. Detrick launched his high-profile campaign last spring and has self-funded his campaign with a $100,000 cash infusion.
