Foreclosure ads off August highs; Maestas talks of personal experience with foreclosure

Foreclosure ads published in the Elk Grove Citizen continue to decline from the highs recorded in August. While this is a welcomed signal, in light of the international credit crisis we might well see an increase as problems in the real estate market continue to unfold.

Also, while the rate of foreclosures seems to be slowing locally, inventories may not decrease as quickly as hoped given tighter credit standards for potential buyers.

On a related noted, Elk Grove city council candidate shares her families personal foreclosure experience in a story published in the Citizen.

Readers of this site may remember several months ago an anonymous post about Maestas' foreclosure. The posting read:
Lets see....She lost her house recently in foreclosure. You think I want her spending my tax money when she can't keep her own finances in order?

We can't help but wonder if this post was done by a surrogate for Sophia Scherman. In the trade of sharp elbow politics, it is called opposition research.

We commend Maestas for being forthright and honest with such a personally delicate issue - something that is lacking in politics even on a local level.
