Real estate developers make up bulk; no individual contributors from Elk Grove
In papers filed with the Elk Grove City Clerk, council member Mike Leary has generated over $35,000 in campaign contributions for his re-election campaign during the July 1 through September 30 filing period. Leary is seeking his third term to the Elk Grove city council.
An analysis of Leary’s California 460 campaign finance disclosure statement shows $28,500 came from various real estate and constructions concerns, primarily businesses. Leary’s war chest now stands at $51,554.
Notably, Leary received $10,000 from the Committee for Homeownership of North State Builders Industry Association, Roseville, $5,000 from William Niemi Co., Granite Bay, $6,000 from Craig Nagler of Granite Bay Capital Group, Granite Bay, CA, $2,500 from Engen Venture., Inc. of Thousand Oaks, CA and $1,500 from Feletto Development Co. of Sacramento.
Local businesses that contributed to Leary include Harley Davidson of Elk Grove, $500 and Elk Grove Toyota, $500.
Of Leary’s 22 patrons, only five were individual donors. Leary, who is facing a credible challenge from Steve Detrick, had no individual contributions from Elk Grove listed on his disclosure forms.
Unlike the previous disclosure statement, this one did not list any out of town political meetings. In his previous disclosure Leary expensed out of town dinners, including one at Spago in Las Vegas, to his campaign.
