Police make drug, gun bust; house shot at and home invasion robbery


Elk Grove police experienced a particularly busy weekend with a host of incidents ranging from a drug and gun bust to a home invasion robbery.

In response to information they had developed as to the whereabouts of a wanted suspect, police pulled over a vehicle near Laguna and Bruceville where Shanjahan Siddique was a passenger. The suspect and driver initially provided police with false identification.

Upon further inspection, officers positively identified Siddique who has several outstanding arrest warrants. The other passenger in the car, James Tu, was found to be on probation. A search of the vehicle reveled a loaded gun and narcotics. Both suspects were arrested and transported to the county jail.

Early Saturday morning police responded to a call at the Carl's Jr. on the corner of Calvine and Elk Grove-Florin. According to police, two victims waiting in the drive-thru lane were approached by an unknown Hispanic male age 20-25 who repeatedly asked the victims for cigarettes.

When they refused, the suspect reached inside the vehicle and put his hand in the waistband on his pants to give the appearance he had a gun. The victims gave the suspect their money. The suspect fled in while Cadillac that was parked nearby.

On Saturday night an occupied house on the 8700 block of Banton Cir. had several gunshots rounds fired at it as well as a homemade incendiary device exploded. The occupants were able to extinguish the fire. No further information is available.

Also on Saturday night a home invasion robbery occurred on the 9500 block of Hickory Rail Way. According to reports, five male Asian suspects aged 20-25 forced entry through a roll up garage door and pointed handguns at the victims inside the residence.

One victim who attempted to flee was struck in the head with a handgun held by one of the suspects. All the unidentified suspects fled the residence.

In addition, police report one arrest for resisting arrest at a party with several juveniles in attendance, one arrest for public intoxication and two domestic violence arrests.
