City council members to be sworn in tonight

Reception to follow


Three members of the Elk Grove City Council will be sworn in this evening during a ceremony at 6:00 pm in the city council chambers.

Incumbents James Cooper and Sophia Scherman will take their oaths after both won reelection to a third four year term on the council. Both are original members of the city council after Elk Grove's 2000 incorporation.

The other member taking oath will be freshman council person Steve Detrick. Two-term incumbent Mike Leary was soundly defeated by Detrick in the November election.

Following the ceremony, the meeting will have an adjournment for brief reception. The city council will reconvene and conduct a regular meeting.
